His family boasts an illustrious military service history, with both of his parents serving in the Navy. At age 17, he continued this legacy by joining the navy himself; serving for eight years before honorably discharging so he could pursue music.

He served in the U.S. Navy

Zach Bryan grew up within a naval community, both his late mother, Annette, and father Dewayne both serving in the Navy. At age 17 he too joined up and achieved Petty Officer Second Class rank.

Starting online posting clips of his music in 2015, by 2019 he had garnered the interest of progressive country music websites. By March of 2019 he had recorded his debut album DeAnn (after his mother), in Florida using Airbnb accommodations with help from Navy friends; shortly thereafter followed it with Elisabeth in 2020.

By 2021, he had inked a deal with Warner Records and begun touring full time on his Ain’t for Tamin’ Tour. His lyrics often reflect upon the struggles faced by his hometown and state and address relevant political issues of today – for which his gunner in the Navy provided crucial encouragement. He credits their support as the key factor behind his success as an artist.

He released his first album in 2022

Bryan has gone beyond major label albums with single releases and TikTok compilations, such as ‘Summertime’s Close’ to demonstrate his ability to capture listeners with emotive instrumentation. Recently he’s also posted unreleased tracks such as Sierra Ferrell-featuring “Holy Roller”, further showing his commitment and eagerness for expansion of his craft.

In 2023, his success was recognized by the Country Music Association with nomination for New Artist of the Year alongside Jelly Roll, Parker McCollum, Megan Moroney and Hailey Whitters. Additionally in 2022 he released All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster – an album which mocked Ticketmaster as it controls most live concert tickets – as a live EP to protest their dominance of live concert industry; currently touring and working on his next studio album that will include duet with Maggie Rogers!
