Billy Joel & Rod Stewart to Perform at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sept. 13

  • by

Billy Joel will get some help this summer when he co-headlines a tour alongside another Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Rod Stewart. It was announced Thursday that Billy Joel and Stewart would share the stage at Cleveland Browns Stadium on September 13 for their inaugural concert together – marking only their third performance ever together onstage together as individuals or members of respective bands! Both artists were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Joel was first honored individually in 1994 before later making it twice more as members of The Faces in 1999.

At a news conference with city and LiveNation officials, Mayor Justin Bibb, Whitney Haslam Johnson of Haslam Sports Group, Destination Cleveland CEO David Gilbert, Live Nation Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sponsorship Sales Barry Gabel and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame President Greg Harris were all in attendance to announce the concert event.

Cleveland is delighted that these two iconic acts have chosen Cleveland as their destinations during their tours, despite in the past choosing other stops along their travels. Gabel describes this process as being similar to solving a giant puzzle; all factors must come together seamlessly for such events to occur successfully – dates, venue space availability, costs for shows/travel arrangements etc must all fit perfectly for successful outcomes.

He notes that an important element in selling out quickly will be demand for the act, with fans eager to witness iconic musicians take the stage once again. Because of this he expects this show to sell out rapidly.

Gabel points out that this tour won’t just stop at one venue: Raymond James Stadium in Tampa will host one show, followed by Petco Park in San Diego (April 13), Busch Stadium in St Louis (Sept 13) and Denver Alamodome on Nov 9 (among others).

This tour will feature both classics and brand-new songs being written right now in the studio, promising “some really exciting stuff you should enjoy,” with plenty of surprises along the way.

Fred Schruers: Fans should expect an enjoyable musical evening. I think that’s key for any successful concert!

Tom Teicholz: Billy and Rod will surely deliver, performing their classic songs that their fans will surely adore, to an enthusiastic crowd that sings along to everything! I predict Billy and Rod will perform many fan favorites that the crowd will sing back along to!

At any live show, singing along and dancing are surefire ways to have a good time – and this show promises no exception! Grab your tickets now for this evening of rock ‘n’ roll history featuring two iconic performers like these two artists and head out to the arena – we hope to see you there.
