Billy Joel and Sting Share the Bill For Their First Co-Headlining Show

Last night at Raymond James Stadium Billy Joel and Sting performed together for their inaugural co-headlining gig together – captured on Q105 by Lisa Claire of Q105 Radio Station.

At last night’s sold-out concert, Joel performed several hits that wowed his sold-out audience – The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” stood out among them all; Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Sting joined in onstage to perform it along with Joel.

The Big Man on Mulberry Street

Billy Joel will soon reach a major milestone as his next Madison Square Garden performance marks 100 of his monthly residency shows there. Recently he spoke to Howard Stern about his new album, “Turn the Lights Back On,” as well as Sting.

Sting hasn’t performed anything brand new since River of Dreams came out, yet he still brought a sold-out Petco Park crowd to their feet Saturday with classic songs like “Only the Good Die Young,” “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant,” and “Piano Man.”

“Every Breath You Take,” one of the Police’s best-known hits, provided an electrifying moment as Joel and his band exited the stage. Sting, dressed like Frank Sinatra for this final performance of “Every Breath You Take,” came back out for its thrilling final act crooning along to Joel while they both shared in singing its chorus together and clearly had great fun making music together.

Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

Billy Joel and Sting came together for “One Night Only” at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa for “One Night Only.” Sting is currently finishing up his record-setting 150 show run at Madison Square Garden while Joel recently released new music after an absence of decades.

Two rock icons took to the stage for an epic duet that kicked off Sting’s set: Joel singing along to Sting’s classic tune ‘Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic’ with Sting on lead vocals; their performance had the entire crowd on its feet and stunned audiences around them.

Fans captured this breathtaking moment and it has gone viral since. Don’t miss it! Moreover, Sting brought out reggae singer Shaggy for a rendition of Englishman in New York that got everyone singing along – an unforgettable way to open his show and set the scene for an electric performance! Below is video proof from Billboard of what happened (be sure to watch carefully! ).

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Long before Paul Simon released Graceland, South African music had an influence on American songs. That was certainly the case with our Song of the Day for Tokens called “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, written in 1939 by Zulu Solomon Linda but with English lyrics added later by producers Hugo & Luigi and Brill Building songwriter George David Weiss to make “Wimoweh”, Linda was no longer listed among its writers; when he died in 1962 with only $22 in his bank account!

On Saturday evening at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium, Sting delivered an opening 16-song set featuring his solo catalog as well as material from both The Police’s discography and his solo material – even calling in reggae fusion musician for “Englishman in New York”! Additionally, Joel joined him for an energetic duet performance of “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic.”

The Longest Time

Sting’s impressive bass skills and modernized versions (such as his energetic interpretation of Juice WRLD’s “Lucid Dreams”) made his opening set feel more like a headliner’s show than usual. Additionally, his presence brought new life into classic songs like Message in a Bottle”, Brand New Day”, and Fields of Gold which he wisely extended rather than rushed through.

Sting’s only misstep in Tampa came during his encore when he asked the audience to join in singing “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by the Police. With its diverse age-range audience of club members with grey locks and those wearing bald caps waiting, fans were hoping for a traditional rendition but instead received a reggae-infused cover which seemed like an missed opportunity.
