AMA Supercross Tracks

AMA Supercross Championship features elite riders competing against one another across 17 rounds on custom-designed tracks in some of the nation’s most renowned stadiums. Unlike motocross where two 30-minute plus 2-lap races determine winners, SX features only one points-paying main event per night show; approximately 40 riders qualify through heat races and LCQs to reach each night show; but only 22 make it through to compete for victory!

SX may lack the high speeds associated with motocross, but makes up for it with challenging and intricate obstacles that riders must be constantly aware of in order to navigate safely through SX. Riders must stay aware of both obstacles ahead as well as other riders around them and remain alert for when an attack may come from behind or around a turn.

Each week, 26 million pounds of dirt are required to construct the racetrack at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Truckloads arrive every Tuesday morning and it is stored four blocks away, sharing space with Monster Jam (sanctioned by Feld Entertainment).
