Zac Brown Band formed while listening to James Taylor. They learned guitar at age seven, taking gigs in restaurants around their hometown to earn enough money for school expenses.
Covid may have suffered setbacks, yet their multi-platinum Grammy Award winning group managed to rebound strong with their latest album The Comeback which offers both tenderness and celebration.
The Story
Zac Brown Band rose to stardom through an incredible combination of brilliant musicianship, deft songwriting and an electrifying live show that inspired audiences to sing along. Their tireless touring helped build an immense fan base of believers over time.
Brown began his musical career playing guitar gigs at sports bars and restaurants during the week and music festivals on weekends. Together with his father he then opened Zac’s Place as a restaurant/music club.
Brown founded the Zac Brown Band in 2002 and embarked on an aggressive tour schedule of 200 dates a year, while also opening Home Grown (which later changed to Southern Ground for legal reasons). Their first major album Chicken Fried became a number-one hit; written by Brown himself with band member Wyatt Durette as co-writers, this heartfelt track told of a divorced dad driving back and forth from Atlanta to Augusta each weekend to pick up their son.
The Music
The Atlanta-based group boasts an expansive musical palate. Drawing inspiration from traditional Nashville songwriting ideals as easily as cutting-edge pop, its concert tours are jam band freakouts with cross-generational appeal and extra musical interests — such as portable speakers and camp for mentally disabled children — show boundless ambition.
ZBB has developed an outstanding live/studio act since their debut, boasting a diverse repertoire that encompasses soft rock, country-rock, hard rock, heavyish metal and bluegrass music.
Brown is the band‘s founder, front man and high tenor singer. Additionally, he serves as record label executive, businessman and philanthropist. Additionally to playing guitar he’s an accomplished fiddle player collaborating with artists like Jimmy Buffett, Hootie & the Blowfish and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Alongside multi-instrumentalist Jimmy De Martini John Driskell Hopkins Clay Cook plus drummer Chris Fryar and bassist Coy Bowles
The Band
Zac Brown Band stands out in an industry dominated by soloists. Comprising of warm acoustic guitar, strong bass, piano touches, gorgeous fiddle work and Brown’s powerful voice; their music comes alive.
While their lyrics occasionally fall prey to beach bum naivete, others display a deep understanding of life’s nuances – the longing for someone constantly away, heartache over an ending relationship and frustration at not being able to spend enough time with family all find their way into ZBB songs.
On occasion, they add the occasional cover song, like an upbeat take of Harry Styles’ “Adore You.” A stirring rendition of their homegrown living ode, “Homegrown,” brought down the house. A medley of country classics featuring each member of the band ended in the crowd pleasing encore number of “Chicken Fried.” A wonderful show that left everyone satisfied!

Brown began performing with his band after opening a music club and restaurant with his father in Lake Oconee, GA in 2004. Once it was purchased by a developer, however, Brown and his band began touring full time, performing rock, country, folk and jam clubs across Georgia as well as their first independent album called Home Grown.
