Wallen was on his way to becoming a country crossover star until video footage showing him shouting out a racist epithet outside of his Tennessee home went viral in 2021. Unfortunately, some of Wallen’s commercial appeal was lost during this incident and his subsequent apology tour was far too vague for many people to be convinced otherwise.
Despite his setback, he has managed to maintain a loyal fanbase. His latest album, One Thing at a Time, made its debut on Billboard 200 chart and held on it for 15 weeks – more than any country album had managed!

Growing up in Sneedville, TN
Morgan Wallen may now be known for his country music career, but as a teenager his plans included performing baseball instead of in front of an arena full of fans. At Gibbs High School in Corryton he excelled both as shortstop and pitcher before an injury threatened his plans of continuing on at major colleges.
Wallen was raised with an appreciation of music alongside his three sisters Ashlyne, Mikaela and Lacey. Alan Jackson served as one of Wallen’s main influences musically; during family jam sessions held in their pickup truck he learned how to harmonize with them all and learn harmony along the way.

Dangerous Tour
Morgan Wallen is one of the most divisive artists in country music; fans love him; critics dislike him. On Friday night he kicked off his inaugural headlining tour across North America to sold-out crowds. His 2021 LP, Dangerous, spent weeks at No.1 on Billboard’s album chart and earned him the Milestone Award from Country Music Association (CMA).
At Ryman Theatre, Wallen and his band kept things light-hearted by performing boot-stompers and ballads that avoided more intrusive country gimmickry.
Opening for Wallen was Nashville resident HARDY, whose recent single “You Proof” features similar small-town anthems sung by Wallen. As part of his performance he joined Wallen onstage to duet on one song from their shared catalogue; making this momentous night.
The Morgan Wallen Foundation
The Morgan Wallen Foundation provides support programs in sports and music while aiding communities during times of need. At present, they are working in collaboration with MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Fund, Habitat for Humanity Greater Nashville and Nashville Sounds minor league baseball team to renovate baseball fields at a Nashville community center.
MWF is proud to support Parkwood Fields’ rebuild, an iconic baseball complex in north Nashville which will serve as a focal point of revitalization of an historically-significant neighborhood. This effort is made possible thanks to contributions from MLB, WMAF and many other partners including local businesses and donors.
Wallen’s More Than My Hometown initiative seeks to place foster children into loving homes as well as provide educational technology, sports equipment and musical instruments to lower-income communities. Three dollars from every ticket purchased on his One Night at a Time tour goes toward his foundation; additionally he has joined Rock Against Racism – an alliance of musicians and industry leaders fighting systemic racism – to combat systemic racism effectively.
