ENHYPEN Discusses Dimension: Answer With Billboard

  • by

Since first emerging via 2020 reality show I-Land and being selected from 23 male idol hopefuls as Jungwon, Jake, Sunghoon, Heeseung Jay Sunoo and Ni-ki, ENHYPEN has made quite the impactful debut. Representing Korea, Australia Japan and United States this international septet has steadily climbed global charts while maintaining relatability that many acts rarely manage at such an early stage of their careers. With their fifth mini-album set for release accompanied by an incredible world tour this fall ENHYPEN plans on keeping their momentum with new songs sure to delight fans!

Billboard caught up with K-pop band FNSB as they discussed their latest album Dimension: Answer and what comes next in their careers, with refreshing honesty in their answers that felt genuine and honest. The septet, comprised of both older and younger members, shared their personal sentiments on horror movie culture and how it impacts young men who have quickly become celebrities; as well as discussing their goal to push beyond expectations of K-pop acts to add greater creativity into their work that often lacks in other acts in the industry.

ENHYPEN’s music stands out due to their unflinching courage in taking risks with their sound. This was evidenced in their recently released single “Blessed-Cursed,” fusing 1970s hard rock with modern Post Malone hip-hop to explore how success may not always bring happiness. Furthermore, this theme runs throughout their album: reggae-infused track like “Let Me In” and gospel-influenced ballad “Drunk-Dazed” demonstrate ENHYPEN’s willingness to expand artistically.

The band also discussed their plans for the future, how they’re hoping to push themselves as artists and what supernatural powers would help them accomplish (telepathy, pyrokinesis and teleportation would come in handy!). One particularly telling moment came when Sunoo–a piano player not featured on record–told us about being an overachiever in school as well as with boy group membership: he hopes “to keep improving my skill sets so I can make an even bigger difference as a musician,” something these guys we believe these guys will do too.
